The FIU First-Year Writing Program Writing Contest is an annual writing contest that recognizes exemplary writing projects from ENC 1101 and ENC 1102 courses at Florida International University. Each year, ENC 1101 and 1102 instructors nominate traditional essays as well as digital and multimodal projects to the contest. Writing program faculty then evaluate the submissions based on genre and audience awareness, clarity and consistency of purpose, writer presence, and how well the project exemplifies one or more of the FIU Writing Program pedagogical priorities. Three winning projects are selected each year to represent the best of what FIU’s ENC 1101 and. ENC 1102 students have composed.
